The University of West Alabama
work experience
Summary
As an Admissions Counselor at the University of West Alabama, I combined interpersonal outreach with visual storytelling, leadership development, and strategic communication. My role bridged recruitment, event planning, marketing, and student mentorship—all grounded in my academic foundation.
Solution & Impact
During my time at UWA, I strengthened student engagement and enrollment by leading recruitment across more than seven counties, designing impactful presentations, and capturing visual content for marketing. I managed and mentored the UWA Student Ambassadors, organizing leadership retreats and training. While obtaining my master’s degree, I translated UWA’s mission into meaningful outreach that connected with students and families.

Recruitment Travel & Territory Engagement
Serving as the university’s representative across seven+ counties in Alabama, I created lasting first impressions and guided students and their families through the admissions journey.
Design, Photography & Marketing Support
In addition to frontline recruiting, I brought creative direction to UWA’s visual and messaging strategy. My work helped bridge the gap between marketing and lived experience—ensuring what we promoted reflected the UWA experience.
UWA Student Ambassadors: Leadership & Mentorship
As the coordinator and advisor for the UWA Student Ambassadors, I led the university’s most visible student leadership group, responsible for representing UWA during tours, events, and special assignments.
Student & Parent Communication: Personalizing the Admissions Process
I prioritized clear, responsive, and respectful communication with every student and family I engaged with. Whether through text, call, or face-to-face meetings, my communication style was rooted in empathy, accuracy, and a deep understanding of student needs.
Leadership Development Through Travel

The UWA student ambassadors went on a white-water rafting adventure in the summer of 2024 that emphasized teamwork, resilience, and communication under pressure.

A thrilling trip to Ruby Falls and Lookout Mountain was held during the summer of 2025, where we held reflective leadership exercises and peer discussions on the value of vulnerability, trust, and showing up as a leader.
These off-campus experiences were designed to take students out of their comfort zones while deepening their sense of connection to the group—and to the mission of UWA.
